Leawood Chamber of Commerce : Leawood, Kansas

Why the Leawood Chamber?
The mission of the Leawood Chamber of Commerce is to provide our members with a meaningful voice in the community and to maximize our members’ opportunities to enjoy business success.  We support member businesses by providing a variety of activities and services, which allow organizations to expand their network of contacts and reach out to the community.

As a Chamber that is just the right size, we have about 400 member businesses, so you’re bound to run into people you know at Chamber functions.  You will not feel lost in the crowd at our gatherings, so you will have a better opportunity to build strong connections.  We believe this is the reason our Chamber is growing rapidly this year, with no signs of slowing down. In fact, the Leawood Chamber was recently recognized as one of the top 10 in the nation in new member growth.

How can the Chamber help me get my name out there?
The Chamber puts on frequent breakfast/luncheon membership meetings to give members a chance to network and learn ways to improve their business, as well as to keep current on what’s going on in the community.  Between 75 and 120 business and government leaders attend these meetings, so it is a great way for members to gain knowledge from each other.  Our “Super-charged Networking” events get you connected with our network of members in a structured and fun way.

We also have monthly After Hours and Morning Mingling Networking events which provide opportunities to make business connections in a relaxed environment.  Member businesses are also welcome to donate door prizes at these events, so attendees will remember your company and have a little something to take home with them too!

The Chamber also assists with Ground Breakings, Ribbon Cuttings, and Grand Openings.  We’ll help coordinate attendance, as well as assist with media contacts, so that your event is a success.  We also provide the official oversized scissors and ribbon to make the day memorable!

Will my business increase?
As with any endeavor, you will get more value out of your membership the more you utilize the Chamber’s many services. We provide you with multiple networking opportunities for you to grow your business.  We receive a variety of inquiries from local residents, as well as out-of-towners, looking for services, and we provide them with a list of Chamber members.  We refer Chamber members to people whenever we get the chance!

What are the benefits?
Our highly functional website gets around 2,000 visitors each month, and we provide members with a  free link to your company website, email contact information, and a free mapping feature to your business location in our online member directory.  We also allow members to post events, news announcements, and member profiles on our website; another way for members to showcase their business free of charge.

What are my resources?
The Chamber distributes a weekly Member Memo, to nearly 1,000 people and businesses, highlighting upcoming Chamber events, as well as community events and news and announcements. We also produce a print publication each year for members to use as a community resource guide; this is distributed to each member business, as well as in new resident packets in cooperation with the City of Leawood.

Does the Chamber hold any special events?
The Chamber holds three special events each year.  We host the Mayor’s State of the City Address in January, A Taste of Leawood in June, and the Annual Meeting in December.  Each event is another great opportunity for members to network with each other, non-member businesses and community leaders.

Does being a Chamber member really make a difference?
Besides offering business prospects, the Chamber works to make your voice heard in local government affairs.  We work with other area chambers to lobby on your behalf in Topeka, so that we can make sure our members operate in the best environment possible.

The Chamber also has an Economic Development Council.  This group receives updates on current Leawood projects, reports from the Director of Planning & Development for the City, as well as reports from various Economic Development Task Forces.

Those who make the most of their membership take advantage of the many services the Leawood Chamber offers to our members. We continually strive to provide you with tools you need to make your organization a success.  For more information on how the Leawood Chamber is “Building Connections, Building Community,” please call us at (913) 498-1514 or visit us online at www.leawoodchamber.org.
