Why the Leawood Chamber?
The mission of the Leawood Chamber of Commerce is to provide our members with a meaningful voice in the community and to maximize our members’ opportunities to enjoy business success. We support member businesses by providing a variety of activities and services, which allow organizations to expand their network of contacts and reach out to the community.
As a Chamber that is just the right size, we have about 420 member businesses, so you’re bound to run into people you know at Chamber functions. You will not feel lost in the crowd at our gatherings, so you will have a better opportunity to build strong connections. We believe this is the reason our Chamber is growing rapidly this year, with no signs of slowing down.
How can the Chamber help me get my name out there?
The Chamber puts on frequent breakfast/luncheon membership meetings to give members a chance to network and learn ways to improve their business, as well as to keep current on what’s going on in the community. Between 75 and 120 business and government leaders attend these meetings, so it is a great way for members to gain knowledge from each other.
Our monthly After Hours and Morning Mingling Networking events provide opportunities to make business connections in a relaxed, social environment. Member businesses are also welcome to donate door prizes at these events, so attendees will remember your company and have a little something to take home with them too! Our “Super-charged Networking” events get you connected with our network of members in a structured and fun way.
The Chamber also assists with Ground Breakings, Ribbon Cuttings, and Grand Openings. We’ll help coordinate attendance, as well as assist with media contacts, so that your event is a success. We also provide the official oversized scissors and ribbon to make the day memorable!
How can the Chamber help grow my business?
As with any endeavor, you will get more value out of your membership the more you utilize the Chamber’s many services. We provide you with multiple networking opportunities for you to grow your business. We receive a variety of inquiries from local residents, as well as out-of-towners, looking for services, and we provide them with a list of Chamber members. We refer Chamber members to people whenever we get the chance!
What are the benefits?
Our highly functional website gets around 7000 visitors each month, and we provide members with a free link to their company website, email contact information, and a free mapping feature to their business location in our online member directory. We also allow members to post events, news announcements, company specials and deals, and member profiles on our website; another way for members to showcase their business. FREE-OF-CHARGE.
What are my resources?
The Chamber distributes a weekly Member Memo, to over 1,000 people and businesses, highlighting upcoming Chamber events, as well as community events and news and announcements. The Member Memo, along with the Chamber web site provide members with sponsorship opportunities that will link viewers to their business. We also produce two print publications each year for Chamber members, Leawood citizens, and visitors. The Community Resource Guide and Chamber Directory is distributed to each member business, as well as in new resident packets in cooperation with the City of Leawood. The "Where's That?" Leawood Area Community Map is distributed not only through the Chamber office, but can also be found at Leawood City Hall and in various other businesses throughout the area.
Does the Chamber hold any special events?
The Chamber holds three special events each year. We host the Mayor’s State of the City Address in January, A Taste of Leawood in June, and the Annual Meeting in December. Each event is another great opportunity for members to network with each other, non-member businesses and community leaders.
Does being a Chamber member really make a difference?
Besides offering business prospects, the Chamber and its Government Affairs Task Force work to make your voice heard in local government affairs. We work with other area chambers to lobby on your behalf in Topeka, so that we can make sure our members operate in the best environment possible. We've had several notable successes in recent years that have reduced the cost of doing business in Kansas.
The Chamber's Economic Development Council receives updates on current Leawood projects, reports from the Director of Planning & Development for the City, as well as reports from various Economic Development Task Forces.
Those who make the most of their membership take advantage of the many services the Leawood Chamber offers to our members. We continually strive to provide you with tools you need to make your organization a success.
