Don't spend a penny on hiring another sales rep, opening a new location or adding a product line without first considering how to use the Internet to grow sales first.

Everyone knows about the growth of ecommerce for consumer sales, but the web has become the Yellow Pages of today, where businesses of all kinds search first when looking for virtually any kind of product or service. What's more, when a potential prospect is searching the web, that's a motivated buyer, usually with a problem to solve, budget to solve it with and a timeframe within which they need to pull the trigger. And if they don't find you there, they'll find someone else.

What’s your business doing to be found by these prospects? And then, how do you convert them to sales? This workshop will cover best practices for generating qualified leads from the web.

Topics include the following:

Overview - The Internet as Yellow Pages
Pay-per-click/Search Engine Optimization - Why Google Really is Worth $200 Billion
Your Website - Your Main Tool to Convert Browsers into Qualified Leads

A Blessing to One Another: Pope John Paul II and the Jewish People

A Blessing to One Another: Pope John Paul II and the Jewish People details Pope John Paul II’s story about the power of prayer and hope. The exhibit tells a moving story about the relationship between a man destined to become Pope, Karol Wojtyla, and childhood Jewish friend Jerzy Kluger, a man who became not only his friend, but a trusted advisor.

The exhibit follows the life of Pope John Paul II from his childhood through his role as pope, celebrating his contributions to relations between the Catholic and Jewish faiths. The historical walk through time is divided into four sections, including his childhood, the dark years of World War II, his rise from priest to bishop to cardinal, and his reign as pope.

The multimedia exhibit includes videos, photographs, artifacts, personal notes handwritten by the pope, as well as the opportunity for visitors to place their hand into a bronze imprint of Pope John Paul II’s hand.  The exhibit includes 105 free-standing wall panels with 350 secondary images and text panels, 20 flat panel LCD monitors displaying historical footage, an 8-foot replica of the Krakow Ghetto gate and wall, a 20-foot long replica of Jerusalem's Western Wall and more.

Through the generous contributions from community partners, including J.M. Fahey Construction Company and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, the traditional ticket fee has been waived. Along with their sponsors, Avila is bringing th ... (go to www.leawoodchamber.org for more information)

Shawnee Mission Medical Center Continues to Increase Patient Volumes

Shawnee Mission Medical Center (SMMC) increased inpatient volumes by six percent in 2008 when compared to 2007 – totaling 18,059 admissions. In addition, outpatient admissions increased by five percent from the previous year to 223,282. “This upward trend in patient visits illustrates our community’s trust in the high-quality and compassionate health care services our medical professionals provide on a daily basis,” said Samuel H. Turner, Sr., SMMC President and CEO.

The release of SMMC’s 2008 numbers comes as the hospital prepares to open its Critical Care Expansion later this month, which will add a new Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Comprehensive Cardiac Care Unit and surgical suites. “The Critical Care Services Expansion was constructed to meet community demand and provide additional services to our patients,” Turner said. “We’ve created a new Emergency Department that is triple the size of our current department, added 10 new intensive care beds and created a new acuity-adaptable unit to care for 32 cardiac patients at one time. Our 2008 volumes show this addition was necessary to ensure our community continues to receive the high-quality care they seek from Shawnee Mission Medical Center.”

In addition to caring for more patients on the main hospital campus during 2008, SMMC opened the Shawnee Mission Outpatient Pavilion in western Lenexa in October to better serve residents of weste ... (go to www.leawoodchamber.org for more information)
