The Leawood Stage Company is pleased to present a concert style production of the Broadway musical "Sunday in the Park with George" in the Lodge at Ironwoods Park, 14701 Mission Road, Leawood, KS 66224.

Friday and Saturday October 15th and 16th, performances will begin at 8:00 p.m. Evening performances will be table seated “Dessert Theater”, featuring dessert and beverages for $10 per person or $70 per table of 8.

The show, "Sunday in the Park with George", with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and book by James Lapine was inspired by the painting “A Sunday Afternoon of the Island of La Grande Jatte” by Georges Seurat.

"Sunday in the Park with George" is one of the most acclaimed musicals of our time. This moving study of the enigmatic painter Georges Seurat won a Pulitzer Prize for its deeply insightful and highly personal examination of life through art and the artist. Directed by Barb Nichols, this Leawood Stage Company production will feature Kevin Bogan in the lead role of George. Baker University is sponsoring a free Career Expo and Networking Event to assist students and community members who are seeking employment or qualified employees.

St. Joseph Medical Center Offering Free Kidney Health Risk Assessments

Every year one in nine American adults will be diagnosed with kidney disease. Millions more are at an increased risk and don’t know it. Knowing your risk factors, along with early detection, can help prevent the progression of kidney disease to kidney failure.

St. Joseph Medical Center is offering free kidney health risk assessments with an educational seminar presented by Walter L. Bender, MD, with Kidney Associates of Kansas City, PC, on Monday, October 11, in the Community Center for Health and Education on the St. Joseph campus at I-435 and State Line Road. Attendees will learn about the risk factors for kidney disease and what can be done to prevent or delay this disease. The free risk assessments will be available 5-6:30 p.m.; the seminar will follow from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
