Join us in celebrating "The Spirit of Entrepreneurship" at the 2010 Leawood Chamber Annual Meeting and Hall of Fame Awards luncheon.

This two hour event is open to the public and provides a way for the Chamber to connect with 300 area business and community leaders. Our scheduled guest speaker is entrepreneur Gene Bicknell.

Gene Bicknell is the founder of 5 companies: NPC International Inc., the world’s largest Pizza Hut Franchisee with 1,100 stores and 35,000 employees nationwide; Pitt Plastics, Inc., manufacturer of polyethylene can liners and other types of packaging and storage bags; National Mills, Inc., manufacturer of t-shirts and provider of other screen printing services; Zouire, national promotional apparel and supplies company; and M.S. Productions, Inc., an oil development and reserve operation. Gene also founded the O. Gene Bicknell Center for Entrepreneurship in the Pittsburg State University College of Business.

Marillac's Enchanted Forest 2010

A multitude of beautifully decorated trees and wreaths will bedeck historic Union Station November 17 through December 4, 2010. The free public exhibit offers families a festive way to spend an afternoon, and an opportunity to share a little holiday spirit with Marillac. During the three-week Enchanted Forest display, approximately 100 trees and wreaths will be available for purchase through a silent auction, and money raised will benefit the children of Marillac.

Join Marillac for Kansas City's most enchanting gala. Marillac's 18th annual Enchanted Evening will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, November 19, 2010 at the Sheraton Overland Park Hotel. Co-chaired by Mr. & Mrs. Rick Keeler and Dr. & Mrs. James Mirabile, the elegant affair will feature gourmet cuisine, cocktails, live and silent auctions, and entertainment.

Enchanted Evening, which draws nearly 500 attendees from across Kansas City, has grown significantly since its inception. Last year's proceeds surpassed $131,000. Adcuda Celebrates One Year Birthday

Adcuda reached the company’s one year milestone on Monday, November 1. Shawnee Mission Medical Center Achieves Status as an Accredited Chest Pain Center for Second Time

Shawnee Mission Medical Center (SMMC) has received Chest Pain Center Accreditation for another three years from the Society of Chest Pain Centers (SCPC), an international organization dedicated to eliminating heart disease as the number one cause of death worldwide. Hospitals that have received SCPC accreditation have verified they have achieved a higher level of expertise in dealing with patients who arrive with symptoms of a heart attack. They emphasize the importance of standardized diagnostic and treatment programs that provide more efficient and effective evaluation as well as more appropriate and rapid treatment of patients with chest pain and other heart attack symptoms. They also serve as a point of entry into the health care system to evaluate and treat other medical problems, and help to promote a healthier lifestyle in an attempt to reduce the risk factors for heart attack.

To become an Accredited Chest Pain Center, SMMC engaged in rigorous evaluation by SCPC for its ability to assess, diagnose and treat patients who may be experiencing a heart attack. This means that SMMC has the processes in place to meet strict criteria aimed at:

• Reducing the time from onset of symptoms to diagnosis and treatment
• Treating patients more quickly during the critical window of time when the integrity of the heart muscle can be preserved
