The Gaslight Grill is located in Leawood, just south of 135th Street on Briar Drive, between Roe and Nall Avenues. Join us on Tuesday, December 9th at 9:30 a.m. for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate their grand opening!

She is a signature member of the Missouri Watercolor Society; Summit Art; Images Art Gallery; & the Greater Kansas City Art Association. Some of the awards she has received include: Artist of the Year; GKCAA Best of Show, Priarie Village Art Show; and she was selected for Missouri Top 50 artists for both 1998 & 2002.

Neth's art will be on display at the bank throughout the month of December.

Holiday Traditions on the Prairie

The Oxford School Docents will host “Holiday Traditions on the Prairie at the Historic Oxford Schoolhouse” on Saturday, December 6 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The historic one-room Oxford School is located in Ironwoods Park at 147th & Mission Road, Leawood, KS.

Learn about holiday celebrations on the plains at the turn of the twentieth century. Enjoy refreshments, play games and make crafts based on the holidays of yesteryear. Help string popcorn and cranberries. Join the costumed docents in decorating the tree and singing songs from the past. Old-time musician Scott Klamm will play traditional American instruments including mountain dulcimer, Appalachian mouth bow, auto harp, guitar and mandolin.

All Oxford School programs and events are coordinated through the Leawood Historic Commission and Leawood Parks & Recreation Department. The Oxford School docents encourage people of all ages to attend. Admission is free.

A Christmas Carol Gone Amuck

The Leawood Stage Company is pleased to present the River City Community Players holiday production of “A Christmas Carol Gone Amuck” at 7:00 p.m. at the Lodge in Ironwoods Park (147th and Mission).

This original script will be presented by the River City Community Players of Leavenworth, Kansas, for one night only in Leawood. “A Christmas Carol Gone Amuck” is a humorous, family friendly play that takes place in a local radio station. The fun begins when the traveling troupe of actors get detained on their way to perform Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol”. The employees of the radio station decide to perform the show themselves. Everyone from the station manager to the janitor, assisted by a couple of spouses, attempt to read parts.

The hilarious production, “A Christmas Carol Gone Amuck” is written and directed by Eric Van Horn. Van Horn will be recognized by Leawood audiences from his portrayal of Buffalo Bill in this summer’s production of “Annie Get Your Gun”.

Overland Park Convention Center invites you to participate in a winter coat drive.

Do you have new or slightly used coats? Help local families in need AND win tickets to upcoming events!

The staff of the Overland Park Convention Center invites you to participate in our winter coat drive taking place at the Center now through Thursday, December 11, 2008.

Please drop off coats between 8 am to 5:30 pm at the Administration front desk located on the southeast corner of the OPCC at 6000 College Boulevard in Overland Park, Kansas. For more information call (913) 339-3000 or email kohagan@opconventioncenter.com.

The coats that you donate will be collected and brought to KCTV5 on Friday, December 12 for their annual Project Warmth Day Special. Operators will be accepting pledges, and throughout the day, KCTV5 will air live Project Warmth updates reminding viewers of the need that exists in the community and encouraging them to phone in pledges.

Julie L. Quirin to become new CEO of Saint Luke’s Hospital


Julie L. Quirin, president and CEO of Saint Luke’s South hospital in Overland Park, KS, has been named CEO of Saint Luke’s Hospital. Quirin will assume the new CEO position on Dec. 22, 2008. A search process has been initiated to select a new CEO for Saint Luke’s South.

Quirin assumes the position as part of a succession plan and will fill the role currently held by G. Richard Hastings, who became president and CEO of Saint Luke’s Health System in 1995 and since 1999 has served in a dual role as CEO of Saint Luke’s Hospital and the health system. Quirin will report to Hastings, who will continue in his leadership position as president and CEO of Saint Luke’s Health System.

Quirin joined Saint Luke’s Health System in 1996 as vice president of Marketing and Strategic Planning, and became CEO of Saint Luke’s South in 2002.

As CEO of Saint Luke’s Hospital, she will be responsible for all areas of hospital operations including business development, facilities planning and program development.
