The Johnson County Public Policy Council and the Chairman of the Board of Johnson County Commissioners, Annabeth Surbaugh, cordially invite you to attend the 2008 State of the County Address and Luncheon.
The cost is $30 / person, or $300 for a table of 8. Advanced reservations and payment are required. The reservation deadline for this event is by 5pm on Monday, March 31st. Refunds will not be made on cancellations received after registration deadline.
Check-in on April 8th will begin at 11:30 am, followed by lunch at noon and Chairman Surbaugh's Address at 12:30 pm.

The Leawood Chamber of Commerce and the Johnson County Public Policy Council sponsor the Legislative Breakfast Series to enhance the communication and exchange of information between the business community and the Johnson County state legislative delegation. Legislators will be on hand to discuss issues and offer the most current legislative updates. All meetings are at the Ritz Charles Overland Park, 9000 West 137th Street. Casual attire is requested. Breakfast is served promptly at 7:30 a.m.

Ask Questions
A big part of networking and the real key to establishing a connection with someone is to actively listen to them and keep them talking about their favorite subject, themselves! The best way to do that is to be prepared with a list of questions that can start the ball rolling.
It’s important not to look like the Spanish Inquisition when you’re doing this. It takes skill and practice to keep someone talking about themselves, but it is well worth the effort and it will make you a much better networker (and salesperson).
The questions should be open-ended (i.e. not Yes or No) and should encourage them to get into some details. You don’t want to monopolize their time, but it’s reasonable that you would ask 5 or 6 of these questions. Here are some ideas you might consider:
