Marathon Moving & Delivery, was among the chosen for a very special honor in 2011. For 10 years, KC Small Business Magazine, Kansas City’s small business resource, has honored companies with less than 25 employees for their contribution to the community.
Our company, was chosen as a 25 Under 25® Award Recipient by a panel of third-party judges from the local business community. To be nominated, companies have to meet certain criteria: employ fewer than 25 full-time employees, operate a business for at least 3 years, and also be located within the greater Kansas City area. The panel of judges also select the final 25 honorees according to the following criteria: financial stability, ability to overcome obstacles and challenges, community involvement/service, distinguishing or defining characteristics/qualities, and company vision.
Please join us in celebrating this great honor on February 26, 2011 at the 25 Under 25® Awards Dinner and Gala at 6pm. The event will be held at the Grand Ballroom, Kansas City Convention Center. For week ending February 11, 2011
From Bob Vancrum, Kansas Government Affairs Consultant
With five days of heavy action this week, the Kansas Legislature tried to make up for time lost last week due to the blizzard, rushing toward their first deadline of February 25th. This week marked the deadline for introducing individual bills and bills not sponsored by an exempt committee. Several of these bills pay for these changes by “broadening” sales tax, including at least one that would impose the sales tax on all services, including professional services (engineering, real estate, barbers, attorneys, but not doctors). Fortunately, none of those bills has yet been scheduled for hearing.
