Shawnee Mission Medical Center Celebrated their Critical Care Services Expansion

In honor of their Critical Care Services Expansion, Shawnee Mission Medical Center invited seven local Chamber of Commerce to celebrate the opening of the facility with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Celebration on January 21st.

The Critical Care Services Expansion design was made with the comfort of patients and families in mind. From dedicated hallways for transportation of patients to assure privacy, to larger rooms in the intensive care, and critical care units that offer a place for loved ones to spend the night, each feature acknowledges the importance of family in the healing process.

Congratulations to Shawnee Mission Medical Center on this exciting expansion!

Massage Heights is Already Reaching Great "Heights"!

Given the current economic forecast, it seems like we hear our share of bad news. For a change, wouldn't it be nice to hear a little good news, too?!?

New chamber member, Tom Dusterhoft, with Massage Heights recently wrote the chamber and shared this terrific news:

Since our soft-opening on December 5th our business has been better then expected.  The number of guests who we placed into Lifestyle Membership Programs (71 new members)  significantly out performed our forecast of 35 new members.  Our success centers around customer care.  Providing a relaxing, uplifting experience to our guests from the time they enter our Retreat to the time they leave.

Our success has been significantly helped by the Leawood Chamber of Commerce as well.  The support to our business has been outstanding.  Our Chamber Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Networking Events gave us immediate exposure to others who have clients or employees who would benefit from the relaxation and wellness of massage and some Chamber Members have joined themselves.

Thank you for all your help.

Colon Cancer Awareness Presentation

March is National Colon Cancer Awareness Month and Menorah Medical Center (MMC) encourages residents 50 years of age and older to get screened for colorectal cancer because 93% of all cases are diagnosed within this age group.

“Both men and women are at risk for colorectal cancer. Routine screening for colorectal cancer in persons aged 50 and over is extremely important because this disease often develops with few, if any, symptoms at first,” said Dr. David Bouda, Medical Director of Midwest Cancer Care at MMC.

Bouda will offer a community education presentation on March 10, 2 p.m., at Silvercrest at Deer Creek, 13060 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, Kansas. The presentation will educate participants about risk factors; signs and symptoms; and screening guidelines. Free take home test kits will be available for the first 100 persons over the age of 50.

This event is open to the public at no charge. At the end of the seminar, attendees are offered an immediate opportunity to ask questions of Bouda. Refreshments will be provided. Space is limited. For more information and to register, please call 913-541-7400.

For additional information concerning colorectal cancer or any of the risk assessments or scheduled screenings, visit http://www.menorahmedicalcenter.com.

College Nannies & Tutors

College Nannies, the nation's largest nanny resource, Builds Stronger Families™ by offering a complete set of nanny placement, on-call nannies and professional babysitting services that lead to happy children and successful students.

College Nannies & Tutors began in 2000 when business student Joseph Keeley took a job as a nanny in Edina, Minnesota. As a nanny, Keeley realized that he was more than a babysitter, but rather an "Active Role Model" for the children. He recognized a need for a unique and specialized service that connected parents with safe and reliable nannies & tutors or role models. He found these role models in current college students, college graduates and certified teachers looking to make a positive difference through their jobs working with children and adolescents. The College Nannies & Tutors organization has since expanded to become the nation's largest nanny and tutor resource.

The Overland Park Placement Center serves the Kansas City, Overland Park, Leawood, Lenexa, Olathe, and surrounding communities. They are a full service agency providing Full-Time Nannies, Part-Time Nannies, Summer ... (go to www.leawoodchamber.org for complete profile)
