Chamber Night at the NAIA Basketball Tournament

2008 State of the County Address

The Johnson County Public Policy Council and the Chairman of the Board of Johnson County Commissioners, Annabeth Surbaugh, cordially invite you to attend the 2008 State of the County Address and Luncheon.

The cost is $30 / person, or $300 for a table of 8. Advanced reservations and payment are required. The reservation deadline for this event is by 5pm on Monday, March 31st. Refunds will not be made on cancellations received after registration deadline.

Check-in on April 8th will begin at 11:30 am, followed by lunch at noon and Chairman Surbaugh's Address at 12:30 pm.

2nd Annual Most Eligible Bachelor Party

435 South Magazine's 2nd Annual Most Eligible Bachelors Party follows the release of their February 2008 issue, which showcases 10 of the area’s most successful single men including former star of ABC’s hit series “The Bachelor” Aaron Buerge. A charge at the door will cover the evening’s festivities including appetizers, desserts, a fashion show by area boutiques, mingling with the bachelors and a goody bag loaded with samples and sponsor gifts. Ticket sales from the event will benefit Marillac, a private, not-for-profit agency providing psychiatric treatment and alternative schooling for children ages 6 to 17 with special emotional and behavioral needs. Located in Overland Park, Marillac’s mission is to provide troubled children and families with hope for a brighter tomorrow.

B2B Cookie Winner

Turner Construction Promotes McSparran to VP

Lee McSparran has been promoted to Vice President at Turner Construction Company. He is currently the Chief Estimator and Preconstruction Manager for Turner’s Kansas City Business Unit, responsible for all preconstruction services, including estimating and cost control duties on all preconstruction projects in the five-state region of Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska and Colorado.

McSparran has been with Turner Construction for 28 years. A graduate of Colorado State University, McSparran earned a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management. He is also a U.S. Green Building Council LEED Accredited Professional.

IBT Media's Journey on the USS Ronald Reagan

On January 29th, IBT Media began their journey for a video shoot aboard the USS Ronald Reagan.  As part of the History Channel's ongoing Modern Marvels series, the IBT group, along with full video equipment, landed on the deck of the huge US Navy aircraft carrier. 

The segment will be included in the third episode of the "world's strongest" series.  The scenes shot by IBT will highlight the four deck edge elevators on the carrier.  Each elevator can lift two aircrafts from the hangar to the flight deck in seconds.  The episode is scheduled to air on Thursday, March 6th.
