2007 State of the County Address

The Leawood Chamber of Commerce and the Johnson County Chairman of the Board Annabeth Surbaugh cordially invite you to attend the 2007 State of the County Address. In conjunction with the Johnson County Public Policy Council. This will also be a great opportunity to network with members and other chambers throughout the area.

The cost is $28 / person, or $275 for a table of 8. Advanced reservations and payment are required. Please RSVP and send payment by 5pm on Tuesday, March 20th. We are unable to refund on cancellations received after the registration deadline. Unfortunately we will not be able to accommodate walk ups at this event. "Getting 3-5 Referrals from your Clients/Centers of Influence" - Dan Stalp with Brooks Associates will present this highly interactive session, which will allow you to brainstorm and question why your are not asking for referrals. We'll discuss how asking and getting referrals can revolutionize your business. We'll give you tools to "drill down" to what you want and need in terms of referrals.

Presentation is from 8 - 9:30 a.m. with registration, coffee and pastries and general networking beginning at 7:45 a.m. Limited to the first 16 registrants. Cost: $15 for members, $20 for non-members

The Leawood Chamber of Commerce and the Johnson County Public Policy Council sponsor the Legislative Breakfast Series to enhance the communication and exchange of information between the business community and the Johnson County state legislative delegation. Legislators will be on hand to discuss issues and offer the most current legislative updates. All meetings will take place at the Ritz Charles in Overland Park, 9300 West 137th Street. Casual attire is requested. Breakfast will be served promptly at 7:30 a.m. Speaking: Senator Dennis Wilson; Representatives Pat Colloton, Owen Donohoe, Gene Rardin and Sheryl Spalding

Officer), Mark Chudik and Leawood Middle School Computer Education Teacher, Cecelia Slenker, will host a 2 hour parent internet safety class.  The information is provided by I-Safe, and covers the dangers of online predators, online bullying, online diaries, & possible safety measures.

There will be an identitcal session given on March 6th.

Leawood Chamber of Commerce Announces Future Office Location

For Immediate Release 

Leawood, KS, February 21, 2007 - The Leawood Chamber of Commerce announced today that they have leased 1,313 square feet of office space in the Town & Country Bank building located at 4707 W 135th Street in Leawood, Kansas. Adam Abrams of RED Brokerage, LLC and Brian Williams of Prudential CRES represented the tenant and Kathy Woodward of DDI Commercial, Inc represented the landlord.

“As the Chamber continues to grow its membership, the staff and facilities needed to effectively provide services have also grown.  This expanded office space will allow us to provide even better service to our members in the City of Leawood and in the neighboring communities.  Being located on a very visible corner at the intersection of Roe and 135th Street in the Town & Country Bank building puts the Chamber in the middle of a very active development corridor.” stated Kevin Jeffries, Leawood Chamber President & CEO.

This training provides information on how to facilitate a support group at Solace House; a center for grieving children, individuals, & families.

Topics include: the stages of grief, inward reflection on personal grief & loss, and many other tools to assist participants dealing with grief associated with the loss of a loved one. You can make a difference!

Chamber Members team up for Fundraiser to Benefit Marillac & KVC

Get Smarter Tutoring  has teamed up with Borders Books to provide a weeklong fundraiser for Marillac & KVC.

Go to Get Smarter's main page, www.getsmarterprep.com, and find the link that says Marillac and KVC promotion with Borders. Click on the PDF file and you will find a coupon. For the past 26 years, SAFEHOME has provided services to the Johnson County community and the metro area.  Services include a 40-bed shelter, 24-hour crisis hotlines, job and housing assistance, life skills advocacy, legal services, healthcare advocacy, and a children’s center.
