If you are a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, you won't want to miss this membership meeting! Our guest speaker will be Dave Steffano, Director of Marketing, for the Kansas City Chiefs. Dave will give an informative presentation on the reconstruction plans for Arrowhead Stadium and upcoming changes for the Chiefs.

The meeting will start with lunch followed by the "Chamber Debut" and an informative presentation by our guest speaker, Dave Steffano with the Kansas City Chiefs. The reservation deadline for this event is Thursday, February 7th by 5:00 pm!

2008 Legislative Breakfast Series

Feb. 23, 2008, 7:30am at Ritz Charles Overland Park, 9000 West 137th Street, Overland Park,

The Leawood Chamber of Commerce and the Johnson County Public Policy Council sponsor the Legislative Breakfast Series to enhance the communication and exchange of information between the business community and the Johnson County state legislative delegation. Legislators will be on hand to discuss issues and offer the most current legislative updates. All meetings are at the Ritz Charles Overland Park, 9000 West 137th Street. Casual attire is requested. Breakfast is served promptly at 7:30 a.m.

The Legislative Breakfast Series is a prepaid event. Reservations must be made in advance. The reservation deadline is the Wednesday preceding each breakfast.

Idiots' Open Golf Tournament to Benefit KC Hospice

For golfers who can't wait until spring, the fifth annual Idiots' Open benefiting Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care is the way to get a golf fix.

A pre-tournament contest starts at 8 a.m. with the opportunity to win a cash prize. The tournament goes on no matter what the weather brings—it's all in the hospice spirit of making the most of every day. The funds raised from this event will help provide care and support to seriously ill patients and their families. Funds raised cover costs incurred by patients who are unable to pay and services not customarily reimbursable by insurance.

Registration fees include nine holes of golf with the option to finish the other nine holes after the tournament, brightly colored golf balls, a hot lunch and coffee. The event also includes silent and live auctions. Chamber Seeking Candidates for Two Part-Time Positions

The Leawood Chamber of Commerce, one of the Metro’s fastest-growing chambers of commerce, has immediate openings for two part time employees.

Office Adminstrator:

Part-time (15-20 hours per week), experienced Office Assistant. Duties and responsibilities of the position include the following:

General Bookkeeping Duties

Invoice preparation
Post payments on accounts (credit cards and checks)
Prepare bank deposits
Prepare payments for Chamber expenses

Event Administration

Email and fax notices to members of upcoming events, meetings, etc
Process event reservations from members
Prepare meeting materials
Prepare event name badges

Other Administrative Tasks

Respond to telephone inquiries for information
Maintain accuracy of Chamber membership database
Prepare various mailings to general membership
Monitor office supply levels and order additional supplies as required
Prepare monthly member retention forms for the Ambassadors Committee

Johnson County - The Next 25 Years

Portions of Johnson County that today are among the most sought-after residential, office and retail sites in the region were farm fields 25 years ago. But the growth we now see didn’t come about by accident. It was the result of careful planning, strategic investment and the ability to spot and take advantage of opportunity.

What will Johnson County look like 25 years from now? What steps must the county take to plot out continued growth and prosperity?

A panel of local experts will address these questions at a March 6 breakfast presented by the Kansas City Business Journal. The panel will discuss such topics as business, development patterns, education, politics and health care.

Kansas Caucuses

Both the Democratic and Republican parties are holding their presidential caucuses this week. The Democrats held theirs yesterday, February 5th. Additional information on the Democratic caucuses can be found at: http://www.ksdp.org/SuperTuesdayFAQ

435 South Magazine's 2nd Annual Most Eligible Bachelors Party

On Thursday, February 28th, 435 South Magazine will host its Second Annual Most Eligible Bachelors Party, a benefit for Marillac, at the Sheraton Overland Park Hotel in the Cottonwood Ballroom from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The party follows the release of the February 2008 issue of 435 South Magazine, which showcases 10 of the area’s most successful single men including former star of ABC’s hit series “The Bachelor” Aaron Buerge. A charge at the door will cover the evening’s festivities including appetizers, desserts, a fashion show by area boutiques, mingling with the bachelors and a goody bag loaded with samples and sponsor gifts.
