10th Annual 'A Taste of Leawood' Event

One of the area`s best events now entering its tenth year!  Enjoy a casual evening of culinary splendor from the area`s finest restaurants under the stars in the Leawood City Hall Courtyard. 

The sounds of the Dan Doran Band will fill the air as patrons enjoy wines, spirits and tantalizing selections from many area restaurant menus.  We expect a crowd of 600 people to enjoy music and samplings of the Leawood area`s finest cuisine, beverages and spirits in the Leawood City Hall Courtyard on Saturday, June 16th.

2007 Legislative Breakfast Series

The Leawood Chamber of Commerce and the Johnson County Public Policy Council sponsor the Legislative Breakfast Series to enhance the communication and exchange of information between the business community and the Johnson County state legislative delegation. Legislators will be on hand to discuss issues and offer the most current legislative updates. All meetings will take place at the Ritz Charles in Overland Park, 9300 West 137th Street. Casual attire is requested. Breakfast will be served promptly at 7:30 a.m.

A number of important discoveries -- printing, the compass and gunpowder -- were made by the Chinese well ahead of similar developments in the West. As China becomes a major world power again, Americans can benefit from studying China especially the concepts underlying its language, medicine and society.

Professor Kohn, a noted scholar of Chinese long-life practices and Daoism with more than 20 books in the field, will discuss how these concepts can help us see the world in new ways and feel more at home in it.

The Mission Bank Expands Customer Access

The Mission Bank is launching a new and unique program that will expand customer access to banking services at a total of 48 branches throughout metropolitan Kansas City. Chamber Ambassador Welcomes New Family Member

Chamber Ambassador, Robert C.J. Thompson with Smith Barney, and his wife welcomed the newest addition to their family on February 27th.

Peter Bernard Thompson II weighed in at  6lbs 6 oz and was 19 inches in length.  Mom and baby are healthy and the family is very happy.

Many important elections and other ballot issues will be decided on April 3.  If you don't feel you know enough about the candidates, the Johnson County Election Office web site includes information on the candidates and the ballot issues. 

These candidates are running to represent each of us on many important Johnson County boards, and it is crucial that Johnson County citizens take an active role in the election process. Decisions made by these elected officals directly influce the quality of services and taxes in our communities.
