The Johnson County Public Policy Council, which is comprised of nine Johnson County area chambers and the Greater KC Chamber of Commerce, sponsors the annual Legislative Breakfast Series to enhance the communication and exchange of information between the business community and the Johnson County state legislative delegation. Legislators will offer legislative updates and discuss issues. Breakfast is served promptly at 7:30 a.m. Casual attire is recommended.

The Parkinson Foundation of the Heartland, Brighton Gardens, and the Prairie Village merchants are partnering to host "Springtime in the Village", Saturday, April 17th.
The day will begin with the "Steps to the Cure" 5K Run/Walk and a one mile fun walk. Registration begins at 7 am, and race time is at 8 am.
Following the run, visitors can go back in time at the annual "Cruisin' Down Memory Lane" Classic Car and Motorcycle show. Food, entertainment, and a kids zone round out the day.

Shawnee Mission Medical Center (SMMC) has been recognized with the highest level Emerald Award for the Johnson County Green Business Initiative sponsored by the Johnson County Environmental Department.
SMMC was one of 14 Johnson County businesses selected for an award based on its ongoing and new green initiatives and efforts to reduce, reuse and recycle with demonstrated success. All applicants completed a survey with categories including waste reduction, reuse and recycling, outreach, education and policies, as well as a one-page written summary of their efforts. The businesses were then selected for three levels of awards including emerald, gold and silver.
SMMC will be formally recognized by the Solid Waste Management Committee at the Board of County Commissioners meeting on Thursday, May 6, at 9:30 am.
