2008 Taste of Leawood Sponsorships Opportunities

'A Taste of Leawood,' one of the area's premier events, is now entering its eleventh year! Enjoy a casual evening of music, spirits and culinary splendor from the area's finest establishments under the stars in the Leawood City Hall Courtyard.

The Leawood Chamber is pleased to announce that a new band, Souled Out, will be performing at this year's event. Patrons will enjoy tantalizing cuisine from new area restaurants along with area favorites, all at one location!

Tallgrass Creek Dog Park Dedication/Ribbon Cutting

Apr. 4, 2008, 1:00pm at Tallgrass Creek, 13800 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, 66223

Pets are an important part of resident's lives at Tallgrass Creek. To honor this and raise pet awareness, they will be holding a Dog Park Dedication/Ribbon Cutting on Friday, April 4th from 1:00-3:00 PM. There will be a dog agility demonstration, a pet costume contest, and plenty more at the community which is located at 13800 Metcalf Avenue. The ribbon cutting will take place at 2:00 pm.

Tallgrass Creek will be taking donations to give to Wayside Waifs. You may ask them for a donation form if you are interested. Members of the Overland Park and Leawood Chambers are invited.

CrossRoad 5K Walk/Run

Walk or run the 6th CrossRoad 5K to benefit the homeless and poor of Kansas City through City Union Mission on Sunday, April 6, 2008 at 8 am in Corporate Woods (College/Antioch), near Building 40. On-site registration, from 6:45-7:30 am, is $25. The walk/run kicks off at 8 am; and the kid’s fun run begins at 9 am.

Families who register together can take advantage of the reduced family preregistration rate of $60 or race-day registration rate of $75. Participants may also collect pledges. The person turning in the most cash generated by pledges will receive a $100 Dick's Sporting Goods gift certificate. Pledge money is due by 8:30 a.m. on the day of the race.

The panelists for this educational installment of the Professional Edge series include: Kelly Admiston, The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City; Roger Edgar, George K. Baum & Company; and John Phillips, United Missouri Bank.

The moderators include Dr. Justin Marlowe and Dr. Michael Moody with the KU Department of Public Administration.

Recent events in the U.S. financial markets remind us of the central role of capital markets to individuals, businesses and governments. These events also highlight the interconnectedness of these groups and how each of these groups is responsive to changes in the economic outlook, current market turbulence and the accompanying uncertainty. This panel will focus on two questions. First, how did we arrive at this current state? Second, how have these events affected the near-term and long-term economic outlook, particularly as it pertains to local governments?

Rigenerante Day Spa Celebrates Their Grand Opening

In February, Rigenerante Day Spa celebrated opening its new location with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The Leawood Chamber of Commerce assisted with the ceremony and Mayor Peggy Dunn cut the ribbon with company owner, Amy Yallaly and her husband Jeff.

Treat The Earth And Yourself

Earth Month provides Aveda partners the opportunity to raise money and awareness for non-profit organizations that support Aveda's environmental mission. This year, Aveda has chosen to support Global Greengrants Fund projects to make clean water a reality for everyone everywhere.

Xiphium Salon is in support of Aveda's global partner as well as The Clean Water Fund, which helps support clean water and sanitation locally. Xiphium Salon will host a Bake Sale on Friday, April 11 and a Cut-A-Thon on Sunday, April 20, 2008 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. All proceeds from our bake sale and cut-a-thon will be donated to our local partner.
