10th Annual 'A Taste of Leawood' Event

One of the area`s best events now entering its tenth year! Enjoy a casual evening of culinary splendor from the area`s finest restaurants under the stars in the Leawood City Hall Courtyard.

The sounds of the Dan Doran Band will fill the air as patrons enjoy wines, spirits and tantalizing selections from many area restaurant menus. We expect a crowd of 600 people to enjoy music and samplings of the Leawood area`s finest cuisine, beverages and spirits in the Leawood City Hall Courtyard on Saturday, June 16th.

2007 Legislative Breakfast Series

The Leawood Chamber of Commerce and the Johnson County Public Policy Council sponsor the Legislative Breakfast Series to enhance the communication and exchange of information between the business community and the Johnson County state legislative delegation. Legislators will be on hand to discuss issues and offer the most current legislative updates. All meetings will take place at the Ritz Charles in Overland Park, 9300 West 137th Street. Casual attire is requested. Breakfast will be served promptly at 7:30 a.m.

Presented by Livia Kohn, professor of religion and east Asian studies, Boston University.

A number of important discoveries -- printing, the compass and gunpowder -- were made by the Chinese well ahead of similar developments in the West. As China becomes a major world power again, Americans can benefit from studying China especially the concepts underlying its language, medicine and society.

Professor Kohn, a noted scholar of Chinese long-life practices and Daoism with more than 20 books in the field, will discuss how these concepts can help us see the world in new ways and feel more at home in it.

This eight-course wine tasting to benefit Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care features wines paired with food from Atlanta Bread Company's new spring menu.

Come from 3:30 to 5 p.m. or from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Call 816-276-2616 for tickets and indicate what time you would like to attend.

In addition, bottles of the featured wines will be available for purchase at the event, and Atlanta Bread Company will donate $5 to Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care for each bottle sold. Proceeds from the event will help Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care enhance the lives of patients facing serious illnesses and their families.

B2B Cookie Winner

This month's B2B cookie winner is Arthur Hall from Satoraum Salon Beauty Wellness. By attending the Chamber's March 6th Morning Mingling event and submitting his business card, Arthur was automatically entered into a drawing for a dozen Blue Chip Cookies, compliments of Blue Chip Cookies in Town Center Plaza.

Wine Tasting To Benefit Kansas City Hospice

An eight-course wine tasting to benefit Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care will be Saturday, April 14 at Atlanta Bread Company, 8180 W. 135th Street, Overland Park, Kan. The wine tasting will include eight wines to try paired with food from the restaurant’s new spring menu.

Seatings are 3:30 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door.

Bottles of the wines you taste at the event will be available for purchase. Atlanta Bread Company will donate $5 to Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care for each bottle sold.

The funds raised will help provide physical support to patients facing life-limiting illnesses, as well as emotional and spiritual support to patients and their families. Funds cover costs incurred by patients who are unable to pay and services not customarily reimbursable by insurance.

Call 816-276-2616 for tickets or for more information about this event. You can select the time you would like to attend when you purchase your ticket. Seating is limited, so buy your tickets early.
