Affinis Corp was one of more than two dozen area companies honored during the 11th annual 25 Under 25 awards gala March 3. Kansas Legislative Update 03-30-2012

Legislative Report for the Leawood Chamber of Commerce
For week ending March 30, 2012
From Bob Vancrum, Consultant

The regular Session of the 2012 legislature has now adjourned.  But much work remains for the “veto session” scheduled to start April 25th: Congressional State House and State Senate district maps, income tax reform, school finance reform or additional K-12 funding.  The apparent progress made on the 2013 budget even fell apart late Friday.

The House did pass a new congressional apportionment district map, now called House Substitute for House Substitute for SB176.  The congressional map would divide the City of Topeka, putting most of it in the heavily rural First District.  The House measure does not split Wyandotte from Johnson County and no longer splits the City of Lawrence.  The Senate has still to act upon a new district map for Senate districts.  The Speaker is threatenin ...
