The Leawood Chamber office will be closed on Monday, May 28th to observe the Memorial Day Holiday. 

10th Annual 'A Taste of Leawood' Event

'A Taste of Leawood,' one of the area's premier events, is now entering its tenth year! Enjoy a casual evening of music, spirits and culinary splendor from the area's finest establishments under the stars in the Leawood City Hall Courtyard.

The sounds of the Dan Doran Band will fill the air as patrons enjoy wines, spirits and tantalizing selections from the following: 40 Sardines, Atlanta Bread Company, Bonefish Grill, BRAVO! Cucina Italiana, Bristol Seafood Grill, Cactus Grill, Caribou Coffee, Cheeseburger In Paradise, CoCo Bolo's, Harry & David, Hereford House, Leawood Hy-Vee Catering, Let's Dish, Longhorn Steakhouse, McAlister's Deli, On the Border, Paddy O'Quigley's, Plaza III The Steakhouse, & Yahooz. SAFEHOME Announces Annual June Jubilee

OVERLAND PARK, Kan.— On Sunday, June 3, 2007, SAFEHOME will hold its 15th Annual June Jubilee, “The Magic Is You,” to benefit the women and children who are clients of Johnson County’s only provider of services for victims of domestic violence.

The “The Magic Is You” Jubilee includes dinner, live and silent auctions, entertainment, and a short program.

Irv Robinson is the Honorary Chair of the event. Irv Robinson is the CEO of Robbie Manufacturing, Inc., a successful supplier of printed plastic packaging for the food, beverage and consumer goods industries.  He and his business have supported SAFEHOME for the past 15 years, and recently helped raise $6.2 million in a Capital Campaign for SAFEHOME's new facility.  He is also involved in a number of other fundraising campaigns in the Jewish Community and donates his time and resources to other charitable organizations, such as Harvesters, University Academy, Breast Cancer Research, KU Hillel, and Sunflower House.

Mary Amundsen Earns Certification as a Professional in Human Resources

The certification, awarded by the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI), signifies that Mary Amundsen possesses the theoretical knowledge and practical experience in human resource management necessary to pass a rigorous examination demonstrating a mastery of the body of knowledge in the field.

"Certification as a human resource professional clearly demonstrates a commitment to personal excellence and to the human resource profession," said Susan Meisinger, SPHR, President and CEO of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). HRCI awards two levels of certification: Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).

To become certified, an applicant must pass a comprehensive examination and demonstrate a strong background of professional human resource experience.

HRCI is the credentialing body for human resource professionals and is affiliated with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the world's largest organization dedicated exclusively to the human resource profession. B2B Cookie Winner

This month's B2B cookie winner is Anab Abdulahi from Anab's Insurance Agency/ Allstate Insurance Company.  By attending the Leawood Chamber's May 8th General Membership Meeting and submitting her business card, Anab was automatically entered into a drawing for a dozen Blue Chip Cookies, compliments of Blue Chip Cookies in Town Center Plaza.

Party in the Park to benefit AIDS Orphans

Raising Future Leaders is a local grassroots project aimed at providing relief to children in Africa who have lost their parents to AIDS.

Rasing Future Leaders will be throwing a party in Leawood City Park to celebrate the last day of school with bouncers, sno-cones, cotton candy, games, etc.

100% of the proceeds will benefit our project in Zimbabwe.
