10th Annual 'A Taste of Leawood' Event

'A Taste of Leawood,' one of the area’s premier events, is now entering its tenth year!  Enjoy a casual evening of music, spirits and culinary splendor from the area’s finest establishments under the stars in the Leawood City Hall Courtyard. 

The sounds of the Dan Doran Band will fill the air as patrons enjoy wines, spirits and tantalizing selections from the following:  40 Sardines, Atlanta Bread Company, Bonefish Grill, BRAVO! Cucina Italiana, Bristol Seafood Grill, Cactus Grill, Caribou Coffee, Cheeseburger In Paradise, CoCo Bolo's, Harry & David, Hereford House, Leawood Hy-Vee Catering, Let's Dish, Longhorn Steakhouse, McAlister’s Deli, On the Border, Paddy O'Quigley's, Plaza III The Steakhouse, & Yahooz.  Also, special thanks to Pepsi Americas.

Event attendees will also have the opportunity to enter a drawing for gift certificates from these fine establishments!

Our newest Chamber members will be presented in our quarterly "Chamber Debut". Each attendee will receive a business card and a description from each business that has joined the Leawood Chamber in the past 90 days.

The guest speaker for our meeting is Victor A. Hogstrom, the President and CEO of KCPT, the local public television station. He began his tenure at KCPT on August 1, 2005. In his short tenure at KCPT he has doubled local programming and has put the station on a solid financial footing. He is also host of One on One with Victor Hogstrom, a popular talk show airing Friday nights on KCPT. With a list of awards and accomplishments to complement his resume, he brings a wonderful track record of leadership to the Kansas City area.

The meeting will start with breakfast followed by the "Chamber Debut" and our guest speaker, Victor A. Hogstrom. The reservation deadline for this event is May 3rd by 5:00 pm!

Blue Valley Recreation Youth Players presents Barry Manilow’s musical comedy Copacabana on Friday, May 4 at 7 p.m., and Saturday, May 5 at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at Blue Valley North High School.

A Pre-Show “all-you-can-eat” pancake supper, provided by Chris Cakes, is Friday from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Blue Valley North High School commons area. Leawood Chamber of Commerce has Settled into Their New Office

The Leawood Chamber has settled into their new office.  The new address is:

Leawood, KS 66224

The office is operational, all phone and fax numbers have remained the same.  They hope to have an Open House sometime after 'A Taste of Leawood."

SAFEHOME Announces Annual June Jubilee

OVERLAND PARK, Kan.— On Sunday, June 3, 2007, SAFEHOME will hold its 15th Annual June Jubilee, “The Magic Is You,” to benefit the women and children who are clients of Johnson County’s only provider of services for victims of domestic violence.
 The “The Magic Is You” Jubilee includes dinner, live and silent auctions, entertainment, and a short program.

Irv Robinson is the Honorary Chair of the event. Irv Robinson is the CEO of Robbie Manufacturing, Inc., a successful supplier of printed plastic packaging for the food, beverage and consumer goods industries.  He and his business have supported SAFEHOME for the past 15 years, and recently helped raise $6.2 million in a Capital Campaign for SAFEHOME's new facility.  He is also involved in a number of other fundraising campaigns in the Jewish Community and donates his time and resources to other charitable organizations, such as Harvesters, University Academy, Breast Cancer Research, KU Hillel, and Sunflower House.
