Kendall Gammon is the personification of the All-American success story.
From his humble beginnings growing up amidst the wheat fields of Rose Hill, Kansas, he began his quest for success at an early age. He ultimately landed a football scholarship to NCAA Division II Pittsburg State University where he helped his team win a national championship in 1991.
Dating back to those small-town origins, Gammon has always surrounded himself with countless successful people who have helped provide him with a multitude of life lessons. Gammon's commitment to four key principles, Setting goals, Noticing strengths, Accepting accountability and Practicing persistence, have empowered him to achieve his life long dreams of playing in the NFL, culminating in both a Pro Bowl and the Super Bowl. These very same principles have also enabled him to build a great family and even a thriving business. His against-all-odds story of achievement will inspire you to build your business and personal future around these principles.
Now in his 14th year with the Kansas City Chiefs, we are pleased to have Kendall address our group. Join Leawood Chamber members and guests for lunch, a great time networking and a very informative program.

Because police officers are oftentimes first to arrive on the scene of medical emergencies, Shawnee Mission Medical Center will donate 72 automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to police departments throughout Johnson County on Thursday, June 29 at 10 a.m. outside the hospital's Emergency Entrance – establishing the area as one of the most progressive heart-safe communities in the nation.
The cities of Fairway, Gardner, Lake Quivira, Lenexa, Overland Park, Roeland Park and Shawnee will receive enough AEDs to equip each police cruiser with technology to deliver potentially life-saving treatment to victims of sudden cardiac arrest – which strikes more than 200,000 Americans each year. “We know that during sudden cardiac arrest, minutes can make the difference between life and death,” said Lester Richardson, DO, Shawnee Mission Medical Center Emergency Physician. “This initiative will allow police officers throughout Johnson County to begin medical treatment before an ambulance arrives, potentially decreasing the amount of damage sustained to the heart and increasing the patient’s chance of survival.”

Project Designer Leslie Hatfield recently joined the team at Schloegel Design Remodel. With a degree in Architectural Studies from the University of Nebraska and ten years of design experience, Leslie will participate in project design and oversee architectural responsibilities for projects. The design team works hand in hand with the build team to make sure that what is designed can actually be built.
Most recently, she served as a Project manager with Webster Architects where she prepared designs for homeowners and builders including development of construction documents. When you hire a design remodel firm, you are hiring one firm to take responsibility for the entire project - both the design and the remodel so there is one point of contact and fewer chances for mix-ups during any phase of the project.
Projects are designed with specific construction details, capabilities, and budget realities in mind. “Leslie is a valuable addition to the design component of our services,” said Jake Schloegel.
In addition, Schloegel announced that they were in need of several experienced carpenters to meet project demand. Interested parties should contact Co ... (go to www.leawoodchamber.org for more information)
