Continuing with the entrepreneurship theme, Robert Kolich from the Kansas Small Business Development Center at Johnson County Community College (JCCC KSBDC) will be our speaker at this month's membership breakfast. He will present information about the services KSBDC has to offer.
The mission of the JCCC KSBDC is to increase economic prosperity in Kansas by helping entrepreneurs and small business owners start and grow their businesses through professional consulting, training, and resources. They provide counseling services, small business workshops and resource information, including free, confidential, one-on-one consulting to existing and prospective small business owners in Johnson, Wyandotte, and Miami counties in Kansas.
Robert will also cover the SBA America's Recovery Capital (ARC) Loan. He will present information regarding the duration, operation and funding of the program; who the program is intended to help; what it can be used for; the loan criteria; and how lenders, small business owners, and the community will benefit. He will also provide information for lenders regarding training dates and contacts.

The Leawood Parks and Recreation Department is proud of the excitement and tradition that the annual 4th of July Celebration brings to the community. Leawood City Park will be the site for a variety of new and traditional family festivities on July 4th. Enjoy great entertainment, participate in games, and taste a variety of food from vendors.
The Aquatic Center will be open from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Kids activities and food vendors will take place from 5:00 - 9:30 p.m. Stage show events will be 5:45-7:00 pm and the musical entertainment will be provided by the Mikey Needleman Band from 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. Fireworks will begin at approximately 9:45 p.m.
General Admission is free. All Access Ride/Activity Bands (for children 14 and under) will be available. No Parking will be available in City Park. Free parking will be provided along the east side Tomahawk Creek Parkway and shuttle busses will be available for transportation to City Park at no cost. Natural Body Spa & Shop continues to enjoy success as their 20 year anniversary was marked on May 11th. Founded in the Morningside area of Atlanta in 1989, the company initially focused on a varied retail offering which included natural, botanical based skin, hair and body care products in addition to natural based candles, pure essential oils and personal care gift items.
What started as a small operation in a space no larger than 900 square feet quickly expanded to included spa services in addition to its retail boutique. Today, Natural Body operates 21 spa locations in seven states and the District of Columbia with 11 of those locations and the company’s headquarters in the Atlanta market.
In the late 1980’s, being natural and concerned for our environmental well being was always a brown color for Cici Coffee, Natural Body’s founder and CEO. Packaging was raw, perhaps “granola” to some, but as a broker in the natural foods and cosmetic industry, she knew there was true beauty in being brown and natural. And after her 25 years in the business, natural and sustainable has become a shade of green.
In the early 1980s, natural cosmetics were a rare find, usually enclosed in glass cases and out of reach from consumer touch or sampling.
