Real Bikers Wear Pink will host our 5th annual ride on Sunday, August 14, 2011. Registration/check-in will begin at 8am. The ride will begin in the parking lot of Sam's Club in Overland Park, on 135th Street, 2 blocks west of 69 Highway.
One of our sponsors, Chris Cakes, will be there serving pancakes, sausage and orange juice for all riders.
The route is approximately 100 scenic miles through Johnson County and a little piece of northern Miami County - all in Kansas. There are gas stations along the way and we've incorporated some of the most interesting roads in the area.
While breast cancer is more prevalent in females, it is an "equal opportunity" disease - and so is this ride. So, Ladies and Gentlemen, please join us for our fifth ride this autumn. The ride will end at Coach's Bar & Grill - located at 148th and Metcalf. They will donate 20% of their lunch sales to the foundation as well. Kick back, have some lunch and enjoy - you know there will be great raffle prizes, too.

The 2011-2012 edition of the Summit Publications Blue Valley Telephone Directory will be delivered to area residences and businesses in the upcoming weeks.
Summit Publications is pleased to announce a new, colorful cover design featuring a beautiful photograph. The change was implemented after Market Authority, an independent research group, conducted a series of extensive studies in the Johnson County, Kansas area. The study found that consumers prefer a directory that is visually appealing, which often leads them to keep it longer and use it more often than similar products.
Although the former, predominately white cover has changed, the small size, format, community-focus, up-to-date listings and advertising inside will continue to include the top-quality information that area business owners and residents have come to expect.
Summit Publications, a member of the Association of Directory Publishers, was founded in March 2003. Corporate headquarters are located in Kearney, Missouri and satellite offices are maintained in Overland Park, Kansas and Independence, Missouri. The company currently publishes 18 community-focused directories in the Kansas City metropolitan area. BestLocalSearch.com is the company’s online local search engine that answers the needs of today’s electronic users. The consistent return on inve ... The flu can impose a considerable economic burden for employers, contributing to increased health care costs and lost productivity. However, Shawnee Mission Physicians Group can help prevent the flu from impacting your workforce with a 2011 on-site flu vaccine clinic.
Studies have shown the total number of lost workdays attributed to influenza-like illness is 28 percent lower for those who received the flu vaccine and total savings were estimated at $83.84 per person vaccinated, including productivity gains and reduced use of medical care and prescription drugs.
As a covered benefit through your group health insurance plan, Shawnee Mission Physicians Group can offer the vaccine to your employees for little or no out-of-pocket cost. Help protect your employees and your bottom line by scheduling an on-site flu vaccination clinic.

Governor Brownback has proclaimed August 7 - 13 as Primary Care Safety Net Clinic Week. Wyandotte/Johnson Safety Net Coalition is pleased to promote Primary Care Safety Net Clinic Week 2011 as part of a weeklong campaign to raise awareness about the mission and accomplishments of Kansas clinics that provide a “safety net” for the most vulnerable Kansans – those who are uninsured and underinsured.
In 2010, Kansas clinics provided comprehensive primary care to more than 215,000 people, regardless of their ability to pay. More than 29,000 of those residents were from Wyandotte and Johnson counties and were provided care at one of the seven safety net clinics that are affiliated with the Kansas Association for the Medically Underserved (KAMU). Duchesne Clinic, Health Partnership Clinic, Silver City Health Center, Mercy and Truth Medical Missions, Southwest Blvd. and Quindaro Family Health Care, Swope Health Wyandotte, Swope Health West, and Turner House Children’s Clinic all play a vital role in our communities by helping their patients stay healthy and out of emergency rooms.
About 347,000 Kansans are uninsured. Nationwide, there are 44 million uninsured and another 56 million who are without a source of primary care. But even if all Americans suddenly had health insurance, millions still wouldn’t be able to access primary care because of where they live. There simply aren’t enough doctors and nurses in places that need them m ... (go to www.leawoodchamber.org for more information)
