Shawnee Mission Express Care to Change Hours September 1

Shawnee Mission Express Care Clinic will change its Monday-Friday hours to open and close one hour earlier in an effort to better serve patients who seek health care services earlier in the day.

Effective September 1, Express Care Clinic will be open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m., closing from 2-3 p.m. for lunch. Saturday hours will remain 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and Sunday hours 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

“We have seen more patients needing access to health care services earlier in the day, as opposed to the evenings,” said Scott Woods, Director of Shawnee Mission Express Care Clinic. “Because our patients are our first priority, the clinic will open an hour earlier to serve those who seek medical attention before work or school. Through our partnership with Shawnee Mission Medical Center and the Mission Hy-Vee, Shawnee Mission Express Care Clinic will continue to be a trusted and accessible health care option for area residents.”

Located within the Hy-Vee at 6655 Martway in Mission, Shawnee Mission Express Care Clinic is a walk-in health clinic that treats most minor illnesses and health concerns for patients 18 months and older. Carondelet Heart Institute Announces Plans for Expansion

The Carondelet Heart Institute at St. Joseph Medical Center will begin construction on a 5.5 million dollar, expansion this fall. The 22,000 feet expansion will double the size of the existing facility.

“We have experienced tremendous growth over the past 18 months,” says David Ireland, CEO, Carondelet Heart Institute. “Since January of last year, we’ve grown from seven to 20 cardiologists serving the heart institute at St. Joseph and we’re setting records in the number of procedures we’re doing. The expansion will allow us to operate more efficiently and to continue to provide the highest level of care to our patients.”

In addition to the growth in medical staff and procedures, new technologies contribute to the need for expansion. Earlier this year, the Carondelet Heart Institute became one of the first in the area using cardiac-specific PET imaging.

The new building will be an expansion to the existing Carondelet Medical Office Building and will provide office space for primary care physicians and other specialists on the third floor. It will be owned by Lillibridge and affiliates, the current owner of the building. A groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for Friday, September 30. It’s expected the construction will take 12 months to complete.
