Network with business leaders from over 30 Kansas City area Chambers of Commerce at the Office Depot Chamber Day at the Kansas Speedway!

On Friday, October 2nd, the Kansas Speedway will once again host a metro-wide event before the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Practice Day & Qualifying activities.

Two-time NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart will be making his first visit to Office Depot Chamber Day as the guest driver. Plus, don't miss the door prizes, great food and action on the track throughout the day.

Tickets are $35 per person and must be paid in ADVANCE by 3:00 pm on September 21st. Contact the Chamber office at 913-498-1514 to confirm ticket availability.

NEW: After September 21st, if available, tickets can be purchased through the Kansas Speedway for $40.

BIDS FOR KIDS 2009 "Tailgate Party"

Join the Leawood Rotary as they host a tailgate party to benefit three great children's charities "FIRST DOWN FOR DOWN'S SYNDROM, MARILLAC AND SYNERGY SERVICES".

Bids for Kids 2009 is a dinner event featuring silent and live auctions and dancing following the auctions.

Firehouse Window Cleaning & Tinting Menorah Celebrates National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The public is invited to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month at Menorah Medical Center (MMC) on Tuesday, October 6, from 4-6 p.m. in The Breast Center of Menorah Medical Center, located near Entrance B (5721 W. 119th Street).

The community is invited to help paint the Menorah campus pink – including the water fountains. Pink ribbons will be available to tie around the trees to honor courageous women everywhere and pink balloons will be released at 5:45 p.m. in celebration of those affected by breast cancer. Gail Worth of Gail’s Harley-Davidson, a supporter of breast cancer causes, will be available for photos with her motorcycles; in addition, complimentary pink hair extensions, fingernail and toe art, hand and foot massages and refreshments will be available.

Liv Aids, a heart-shaped, simple medical device from breast cancer survivor Olivia Newton-John, will be distributed to help women perform a proper and correct breast self-exam every month.

"It's essential that we take charge of our health by choosing healthy lifestyles, conducting monthly self-exams and having an annual mammogram," says Pam Handlan, Breast Center of Menorah Director. "We're all in this together. It's important that we encourage family and friends to get screened regularly.”

The Olathe Chamber of Commerce is still accepting applications for a full-time accounting coordinator, who will handle day-to-day responsibilities related to reviewing the Chamber’s financial statements and internal and external reporting to ensure all are presented accurately and in accordance with GAAP. The new employee will replace long-time employee Betty Foree, who will retire this month. The ideal candidate will possess an accounting or finance degree (or equivalent) with three or more years in accounting. Interviews with the most qualified candidates will be arranged soon.
