Web 2.0 is here and one of the key components and differences is the advent of Social Networking sites like Linked In. Linked In has over 25 Million users worldwide - and over 55,000 in the Kansas City area!

One of the challenges is that a lot of people don't know how to get started in these new networking environments and it can be confusing and frustrating without some help.

At this Education Session, Shawn Kinkade with Aspire Business Development will inform attendees on what these social networks are and how to start using them. His presentation will primarily focus on Linked In, but a lot of the ideas will apply to other applications.

This will be an interactive session - so bring questions and be prepared to participate!

Exhibit by the State Line Rug Hookers Guild

Each month, Town & Country Bank displays art from a different local artist. Please visit the bank's community room this month to view a special exhibit by the State Line Rug Hookers Guild.

Rug hooking developed in North America along the Eastern Seaboard in New England and in the United States. It was a craft of poverty. The demand for floor coverings in the U.S. came about 1830 when factories produced machine-made carpets for the rich.

Visit the exhibit and see this art form come to life courtesy of several local artisans.

Johnson County Community College has received a $25,000 grant to fund a new advanced dementia care certificate program. The grant is from the International Longevity Center under the 2008 Community College Caregiver Training Initiative, funded by MetLife Foundation.

It is our hope to expand it beyond the metropolitan area in the future.”

The program will emphasize holistic, person-centered care and the importance of the family unit in the patient’s care. It will also focus on the stress and mental health of the caregiver.

Working with qualified professionals, participants will learn:
• restorative aide skills for helping patients maintain optimum levels of functioning for eating, dressing, personal care, etc.
