AT&T to Add Jobs in Kansas

AT&T* is in the process of hiring nearly 100 employees in Kansas to accommodate growth in its U-verse television, broadband and voice service and other operations. Although employees are being hired across the state, the majority are in the Kansas City area. The largest numbers of hires are installation technicians for AT&T U-verse® TV, the fastest- growing TV service in the country, and in retail sales.

“This is some very welcome good news about jobs,” said Gov. Sam Brownback. “AT&T’s investment in high-tech jobs shows that private businesses are ready to invest and hire where they have a stable, sensible tax and regulatory environment. This is a model for how we can grow Kansas jobs. We have added more than 13,000 net private-sector jobs in Kansas this year but we still have a lot of work to do.”

The largest category of open job positions is for technicians responsible for installing AT&T U-verse services, which include AT&T U-verse TV, AT&T U-verse High Speed Internet and AT&T U-verse Voice. The hires are a combination of new jobs and filling vacancies created by attrition.

“We are investing in areas of growth, both in wireless and our award-winning U-verse services,” said Steve Hahn, president of AT&T Kansas. “We are signing up new customers every day, and we have to hire people to keep up with growing demand. Put simply, Kansas is a growth story for AT&T.&rdquo ... (go to www.leawoodchamber.org for more information)
