Boulevard Brewing Company President, John McDonald, has been brewing business success since he founded the business in 1989.
Boulevard is the 2nd largest brewery in Missouri and has grown in double digits every year and maintained a strong reputation since it opened. John will tell you that a great business mind is not what has enabled the company to flourish. Vision, integrity, passion, determination, patience and the ability to attract outstanding people by inspiring them to have a fierce loyalty and dedication to the company is what has driven them to great success.
John embodies the character and culture of the organization he built and still walks through the brewery each morning to greet his employees and discuss the issues of the day.
Join us at this month's membership luncheon to hear John's story of entrepreneurship which led to one of the most prosperous specialty breweries in the United States.
Chamber Members: As an added benefit, members will receive via email a spreadsheet with contact information of all the other member attendees at the event. This is another way we're working to make sure the Leawood Chamber is a great networking resource for Chamber members.

Local business owner, Jill Hathaway of J. Hathaway Shoe Boutique, was honored for The Best In-Store Event by an independent shoe retailer at The Art of Retail Awards, held in Chicago this summer.
Hathaway created a two-week promotion called “The Red Dress” which benefited Heart Health, and raised more than $2,500. She created a dress made from $1,000 worth of gift cards from neighboring stores and restaurants. Then, the dress was raffled off to consumers who shopped the store.
“It was a great event, not only for us, but for the entire community,” Hathaway said upon receiving her award. “We found that if you support the community, the community will support you.”
All the participating retailers promoted The Red Dress raffle and additionally, The American Heart Association was featured in two TV interviews promoting the event. J. Hathaway Shoe Boutique promoted the Red Dress raffle on its website and facebook page and consumers had to come into the store to buy a $5 raffle ticket.
For four-days of the two week promotion, Hathaway donated 10% of her sales to the American Heart Association. Hathaway estimates the promotion brought in 300 customers to her store during the month of February.
The Art of Retail Awards took place at The Footwear Event, a major industry gathering of leading retailers and brands. Hathaway was one of three independent retailers recognized for outstanding achievement in 2010. The Tannery ... (go to www.leawoodchamber.org for more information)
