Carondelet Health announced that it has entered into an employment agreement with Kansas City Cardiology Associates (KCCA) effective January 1, 2010. This employment agreement includes all 14 cardiologists, as well as the existing office staff.
The Kansas City Heart Group has been dedicated to St. Joseph Medical Center for more than 20 years and will continue to be a vital cardiology practice at Carondelet Heart Institute. The two physician groups will work collaboratively to grow and expand the Carondelet Heart Institute.
"We are excited about Kansas City Cardiology integrating more fully into Carondelet Health," said Fleury Yelvington, Carondelet Health President and CEO. "Having the group involved at St. Mary's Medical Center has been a great experience for both parties, so expanding the relationship is an excellent transition."
"Having a second outstanding cardiology group will help us achieve our long range goals for the growth and regional presence of the Carondelet Heart Institute at St. Joseph Medical Center and St. Mary's Medical Center."
KCCA will move its current Kansas City practice location to the St. Joseph Medical Center campus in early January. The exact location of that office will be announced at a later date as the details are finalized. The existing practice locations in Lee's Summit and at St. Mary's Medical Center will remain.
John Holkins, MD., President of Kansas City Cardiology Associates, commented, "I believe this newly formed partnership will allow fulfillment of strategic opportunities for both groups. The 14 physicians and 76 employees of Kansas City Cardiology Associates are excited about this new direction with a conjoint effort dedicated to increase the cardiovascular presence of the Carondelet system in Kansas City."
