Co-Chairs Named for St. Joseph Medical Center Foundation Event

02/03/2010 – 2010 Healthy Food & Good Wine Scheduled for May 8th


The St. Joseph Medical Center Foundation is pleased to announce the co-chairs for its upcoming spring social event, 2010 Healthy Food & Good Wine, on Saturday, May 8 at St. Joseph Medical Center.

Laura Foley and her husband David Cimpl; and Norman Bamber, MD, PhD and his wife, Jill, are the event co-chairs. Foley is currently serving on the St. Joseph Medical Center Foundation board as vice chair and development committee chair. She is a nine-year member of the board at the Kansas City Free Health Clinic and both she and her husband have been actively involved in Catholic Charities of Kansas and Snow Ball.  David Cimpl is CFO for Midwest Mechanical Corporation. Representing the medical staff is Norman Bamber, MD, PhD, a neurological surgeon and his wife, Jill. Dr. Bamber has served on St. Joseph's Surgery Clinical Effectiveness Team and on the Medical Informatics Team.

Since its inception in 1996, Healthy Food Good Wine has been a biennial wine tasting event that brings business, social and medical communities together for the benefit of St. Joseph Medical Center Foundation. Over the years, the event has raised funds for the Emergency Room, Seniors Clinic, Pain Clinic and Heart Institute expansions.

This year, The event will spotlight the buy fresh, buy local, eat healthy movement in Kansas City with chefs from local, independently-own restaurants.  Festivities include an Iron Chef competition featuring JJ Mirable, Jr. of Jasper's Restaurant and Michael Foust of the Farmhouse and live entertainment. An online auction featuring meals from participating restaurants and other goodies will precede the event. Funds raised will go towards the purchase of a surgical microscope for neuro-interventions.
